ARQ Live album recording at the Vortex – Tuesday 13 August

Bass player and composer Alison Rayner leads this contemporary jazz quintet. Original compositions draw on a love for lyrical melodies, deep grooves and influences from folk, funk and Latin. The gig is being recorded by Blow the Fuse Records for release later this year so come along and be a part of a historic recording!

With her big warm acoustic sound, faultless time, tuning and taste and creative solo ability, she clearly belongs in the front rank of contemporary bassists.” Digby Fairweather

“Alison Rayner plays imaginatively in a very exposed role, crucially contributing to group cohesion and swing. Her solos are inventive and integral.” Jazz Journal

“My favourite performer was Alison Rayner who has grown into a bass player of real distinction. She plays on many of the tracks with a versatility, precision and sensitivity that is quite awesome.” Adeola Agbebiyi
