Annie Whitehead is a trombone virtuoso best known for her engaging mix of African grooves, blues, ska and Ellingtonian expressionism.

One of the UK’s brightest and most versatile trombone players, Annie Whitehead has played on over 50 albums. She is well known at the Vortex as leader of the World music Workshop Band and a wonderful live performer.

Led by young trombonist and composer Rosie Turton known for her playing with septet Nerija, Huw Bennet Quintet and SE Dub Collective, this new quintet explores jazz, hip hop and Indian Classical music.

Strong melodies blending the sound of trombone, violin and electronics over a bed of interlocking grooves and soundscapes from the rhythm section.
