LUND The Russet
The Word is Your Oyster from Sarah P….
The next TWIYO on Weds Dec 17th is going to be a real delight. We’re Celebrating Solstice & Yule with words, song, music and life!
Michael Horovitz, Lorraine Jordan, Vanessa Vie, Annie Whitehead, Jennifer Maidman, Ruby Thompson, our resident band LUND, and of course the build up to …… the word of the night collective collaboration finale using your poetic offerings folks. WOW! Put the date in your diary quick and let nothing stand in its way 🙂
We’re thrilled to welcome back the wonderful Michael Horoviz, this is a rare chance to experience the song-poet/anglosaxophonist in action.
Pioneer of jazz poetry, New Departures editor and Poetry Olympics torchbearer. Michael has been dubbed a “Popular, experienced, experimental, New Jerusalem, Jazz Generation, Sensitive Bard” by Allen Ginsberg.
Characterised by Martin Amis as “A dreamer, a maverick … transmedial crusader”, by Margaret Drabble as “An original poet, with an original voice”, and by Vogue as “The worst-dressed poet in Britain”. Michael recently recorded with Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Paul Weller for Gearbox Records
This time not only will he have the musical company of TWIYO regulars and fellow William Blake Klezmatrix band members the fabulous & transcendent Jennifer Maidman (guitar/bass) & Annie Whitehead (trombone). He is also delighting us by bringing his singer-songsmith, guitarist, harmonica player, lyricist-poet, & visual artist partner Vanessa Vie.
This is a truly magical in all ways!
We are honoured to be welcoming to the TWIYO stage the beautiful spirit that is Lorraine Jordan. Lorraine is an acclaimed singer songwriter who takes the influences of her Irish roots and love of traditional ballads and combines them with her contemporary musical influences to create an intoxicating and thought provoking set of original songs. She’s released 4 CDs to date and has shared stages with Richard Thompson, Loudon Wainwright III, the Waterboys and The Chieftains to name but a few.
Ruby Thompson will be giving us a story, LUND will be playing their new song ‘Lightning tree’ and we may be joined by a tap dancing poet!!! Ohhhhhhh!
Poets hats out and see you at The Russet folks.
Love, Joy and creative flow
